About the play

In this moving drama, students and teachers at a fictitous DC Public High School start the lunch period like any normal day. But, the nature of their interweaving relationships and the complexities of attending an urban institution, turn this particular day upside down. The play's intense dialogue and moments of thought-provoking reflection will have audiences glued to their seats, anxious for what's next.

About the writer/director

Rahima Rice-Marsh was born, raised and educated in Washington, D.C. Growing up in Brookland with educator parents, she has been writing poems, short stories, screenplays and stage plays most of her life. While attending The School Without Walls Senior High School Rahima was selected to participate in several writing workshops, including a youth workshop at The National Museum of Women in the Arts. There, she honed her craft under the tutelage of the noteworthy authors Edwidge Danticatt and Jacqueline Woodson. During this time Rahima also toured with The Traveling Young Players, a youth performance troupe through The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Rahima has starred in performances of Annie, Finian's Rainbow, and The Wiz. She holds a BA in Mass Media: Art from the University of the District of Columbia, where she excelled in writing courses with authors Marita Golden and Elsie Williams, and the late Dr. Andress Taylor.
